Courtesy of PJ, a letter from the Chief Exec of the NHS, ostensibly allaying fears and answering queries about the biggest shake-up the NHS has ever seen, but to these eyes, actually delivering a masterclass in jargon, obfuscation and glossing over the difficult stuff.
Pearlers in there include:
- The Department intends for more integration of services and more competition – these things are not in conflict. (!)
- development of multi-channel services for convenience (?)
- the transfer of PCT owned property to other NHS or non-NHS organisations (what?)
- The programme will be a cross-cutting programme drawing on activities and resources which sit across a variety of organisations. As a programme which is about transforming a relationship, it will also explore how we can drive and capitalise on the active participation and support of the broader system and public to deliver a lasting and transformational impact (gold star for woolliness)
Lots of "This will happen, a week next Thursday. We don’t really know how, but we can’t dare admit that. Tell you what, let’s leave the details until later. Maybe nobody’ll notice"
