Newcastle Mental Health Day will take place on Saturday 6th October, 2012 at Grey’s Monument in Newcastle city centre.
Following successful World Mental Health Day events in the city over several years a very broad range of organisations and charities based in and around Newcastle have again come together in order to bring the issue of mental health to the forefront.
The day will combine information and family entertainment. There will be stalls from pretty much every organisation in the City that works in mental health, from the small to the large, from service user-run groups to the NHS, to let people know about the wide range of mental health help, support and information on offer in Newcastle. The day will feature bands, jive/lindy-hop dancers, belly dancers, capoeira, smoothie bikes, quizzes, graffiti, film-making, readings, yo-yos and lots more, all to attract attention to mental health, to tackle stigma, to promote ways to wellbeing, and to have a good time.
