Squeezing in a mailout before the full shock of September sets in, but time is tight, so a minimalist approach is required.
Okay, not that minimal (and how many have made it this far..?)
First up, and groovy and exciting to boot is the season of cinema exploring mental health running at the Star and Shadow cinema (in Newcastle), with a screening at St Dominic’s Chapel too, and also ancillary screenings elsewhere like Crisis Skylight and the Tyneside Cinema (for a film put on by the Hearing The Voice initiative at Durham Uni). Films. On mental health or having some bearing on the topic. With guests doing wee introductions, and the opportunity to talk and discuss afterwards. It’s all attached as the Gloaming Elephants flyer.
It starts on Sunday the 29th of September and runs through to the 6th of November.
On the fun and games stuff, too, a reminder that Saturday October 5th sees the big mental health and Time to Change event for the North East, at Grey’s Monument in Newcastle, between 10am and 4pm. Loads going on so get yourself there. And there may be further and bigger publicity to come on that too, so watch out for that…
Five newsletters from NSUN, one, two, three, four and five.
Then one (attached as a pdf, newsletter 20) from NEMHDU
And another as a pdf, from MHNE
Now a ball. Literally: the Safe and Well Ball being organised by social work student colleagues to raise money for the Cyrenians.Happening on the 18th of October. Pdf attached for that too.
Now, how about a flier for a North East EcoMinds networking event, taking place on the 18th of September?. This event is open to any group involved in green therapy projects, not just those who have had EcoMinds funding. Once more attached as a pdf.
Little to no comment this time, no long harangue about the detrimental effects of welfare reform etc, the many social injustices being visited upon the vulnerable and marginalised. The issues haven’t gone away, or been ameliorated overnight, but your correspondent acknowledges that you dear reader (and he,too, being honest) occasionally need a break from the bad stuff.
