Breaking down barriers with Mental Health First Aid


In the last of our week-long series of inspirational MHFA stories, and to mark World Mental Health Day 2014, David tells his story of living with schizophrenia.

David has lived with a diagnosis of schizophrenia for over thirty years, and battled with society’s perception of it ever since.  However, despite the difficulties that he has faced, David continues to approach life proactively.  One of the many positive steps that he has taken in recent years has been to attend a Mental Health First Aid training course –a two day course which has helped him to understand the management of his own condition and help others who may be experiencing symptoms of mental ill health.
