The next NTWSU&C network meeting will be held this Friday,21st of August,12 noon for a 12.30pm start, in the Soup Kitchen at Launchpad.We’re in the Holy Jesus Hospital, formerly the Joicey museum, right by the 55 degrees north/Swan House roundabout, where Pilgrim street meets City road.It’s the very old building that was once a soup kitchen etc. Press the Launchpad buzzer for entry. Best parking is at Manors multi-storey.
September the 7th sees Stuff & Nonsense a new/reworked early evening activity/group: comedy/creative writing workshops for mental health service users, survivors and supporters living in Tyne & Wear, to assist their well-being, and to have some fun.The weekly workshops will start 6 – 8pm on Monday 7th September 2015 at Broadacre House, Market Street, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 6HQ. A poster is attached.
The following day (i.e. 8th of September),at the same venue (i.e. Broadacre House), but in the afternoon (1.30 to 3.00pm), there is a new anti-stigma mentoring group for people who want to build the skills and experience to challenge mental health stigma and discrimination. Again a poster is attached.
Also attached are a couple of pdfs, in case you haven’t heard of, or haven’t heard the rather good mental health radio show Mentally Sound. The attachments also contain links to downloads of the shows, so there’s no excuse for not catching up.

Finally, an interesting link: Fifty psychological and psychiatric terms to avoid: a list of inaccurate, misleading, misused, ambiguous, and logically confused words and phrases. Not that you shouldn’t use the terms or phrases, more that you really ought to know what they mean or the connotations they carry before you do employ them.
